Thursday the 10th of February

Today... nothing OVERLY interesting happened.
I went to school. SURPRISE.
Then I worked out. I came home, I skyped with Charlie. I ate dinner. I skyped with my dad.
Then I found out that a bunch of exchange students are getting sent home.

I'll explain.

In Liege, a big city about half an hour away from my house, there is something called le carre. Now it is basically a square of bars. Or maybe pubs is a better word. Regardless. It is strictly forbidden for us Rotary kids to go there. AT ALL. I have never been. I would really like to see it, just to experience it, but luckily I am too much of a chicken to break the rules. Eduardo goes every Wednesday (since we get out of school at noon) and parties. He's with AFS, for them it's not interdit. However. Many other Rotary kids go. I'm talking thirty or forty on a given day, as far as I can tell. Eduardo always comes to school on Thursday with many juicy stories to tell- about people being drunk, dancing on tables, taking their shirts off, you know, the usual.

OBVIOUSLY Rotary doesn't like this, it gives them a bad name.
So lately, they've been threatening that anyone who gets caught in the carre will be immediately sent home. Then, last week, a rumor was spread that the Rotarians would be patrolling the carre, specifically searching for the exchange students.

Apparently, no one truly believed them.

And now, at least five kids are getting sent home.

It's just a little nuts. I mean, great, yeah, I'm sure it's really fun.
But is it really worth it?

Finally. Last night I got to three way skype with my two best friends Kaylinn and Joe. It was lovely :)

You can see why we work so well together <3

That's all for tonight!!

today I appreciate: jelly

  1. I can sort of imagine the temptation to experience le carre but I'm glad you resisted. It wouldn't be worth it to lose out on the great time you're having in Belgium. I've always been proud of you, but even more so with this choice you made. I love you, and miss you!!
