WEEKEND

Hello everyone, sorry I didn't post all weekend. Thursday night Mikayla was over, and after she left I got sick and slept all night and all of Friday. Friday night I went to a party in Brussels, and it was a lot of fun, but nothing special. Saturday we all went paintballing with Geraldine's group activity. It was a lot of fun, although we seemed to have spent more time hiding behind barriers than actually running around and shooting each other. After that, with excessive problems of transportation, I ended up spending the night at my first host family's house, which was enjoyable.

Today, I am exhausted. A nice nap, a movie, and some homework will be a lovely end to my weekend.

Here's a cute little thing I found on stumble upon today, about professionals asking four to eight year olds what love means.

Amusez vous bien.

“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.” Rebecca- age 8
“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.” Billy – age 4
“Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.” Karl – age 5
“Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.” Chrissy – age 6
“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.” Terri – age 4
“Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.” Danny – age 7
“Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss” Emily – age 8
“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.” Bobby – age 7
“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,” Nikka – age 6
“Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.” Noelle – age 7
“Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.” Tommy – age 6
“During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.” Cindy – age 8
“My mommy loves me more than anybody You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.” Clare – age 6
“Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.” Elaine-age 5
“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.” Chris – age 7
“Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.” Mary Ann – age 4
“I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.” Lauren – age 6
“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.” Karen – age 7
“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.” Mark – age 6
“You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.” Jessica – age 8

today I appreciate: being healthy

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

:) <3

Sorry I didn't post over the weekend. Friday night I went to a party, Saturday I was in Liege, Sunday we had a family tournament of Tennis (150 people) and then I had homework to do.

Needless to say, I was busy.

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful valentines day. I received a beautiful bouquet of roses today, which I was very pleased about :)

I don't have much to say, except that love comes in many colors and many forms. For family, for friends, romantically, for inanimate objects, the works.

I've learned a lot about love this year, being away from many of the things I love most, but learning to love things I never even dreamed of.

I love you all. Thank you so much for everything.

today I appreciate: my roses :)

Thursday the 10th of February

Today... nothing OVERLY interesting happened.
I went to school. SURPRISE.
Then I worked out. I came home, I skyped with Charlie. I ate dinner. I skyped with my dad.
Then I found out that a bunch of exchange students are getting sent home.

I'll explain.

In Liege, a big city about half an hour away from my house, there is something called le carre. Now it is basically a square of bars. Or maybe pubs is a better word. Regardless. It is strictly forbidden for us Rotary kids to go there. AT ALL. I have never been. I would really like to see it, just to experience it, but luckily I am too much of a chicken to break the rules. Eduardo goes every Wednesday (since we get out of school at noon) and parties. He's with AFS, for them it's not interdit. However. Many other Rotary kids go. I'm talking thirty or forty on a given day, as far as I can tell. Eduardo always comes to school on Thursday with many juicy stories to tell- about people being drunk, dancing on tables, taking their shirts off, you know, the usual.

OBVIOUSLY Rotary doesn't like this, it gives them a bad name.
So lately, they've been threatening that anyone who gets caught in the carre will be immediately sent home. Then, last week, a rumor was spread that the Rotarians would be patrolling the carre, specifically searching for the exchange students.

Apparently, no one truly believed them.

And now, at least five kids are getting sent home.

It's just a little nuts. I mean, great, yeah, I'm sure it's really fun.
But is it really worth it?

Finally. Last night I got to three way skype with my two best friends Kaylinn and Joe. It was lovely :)

You can see why we work so well together <3

That's all for tonight!!

today I appreciate: jelly

Memories

Hello. Nothing interesting happened today. At all.
Here's a little nostalgia...

I just started using iMovie and I love it. It took me about fifteen minutes to make this video, and it's pretty cool :)

I love you all. Sorry if you're not posted in here, I have a very limited amount of photos actually on my laptop. But you know that I love you all :)

today I appreciate: where I come from

Ummmm

Hi.

I'll just say it. I'm a terrible, terrible person.
I haven't written in ages.

My new goal is to post at least 5 times a week, even if it's just a sentence or a video or something.

That way I can keep all my fans entertained.

Life in Belgium is.. life. Everything is ordinary, nothing extremely exciting.
How boring, right?

DON'T get me wrong. I'm still loving it. I just have less to report.

Lots of parties. Lots of speaking French. Lots of school. What else is new?

Last Friday we had the 100 jours à l'école, which means there are about one hundred days left of school. We all dressed up, each class had a theme. My classes theme was "goth/ gangster". All of the Belgians completely surprised me, showing up completely decked out in their themes. I was thrilled. We danced, we played games, we took pictures, it was great.

Saturday I took a little visit to Spa to visit the one, the only, Remi. It was very fun and I enjoyed the time I spent with him :)  He's an exchange student from Canada, by the way.

I also met le chien de ma vie, Maja, pictured below. She was ADORABLE :)

Aaaaaaand voila. Life is wonderful. I'll write again tomorrow, most likely.

today I appreciate: SUNSHINE :)
